ASAP after school students at Laclede Elementary turn into bookworms every Friday when they are visited by Washington University's community service group "Out of the Blue (OOTB)". The group of Washington University students tutors and mentors kindergarten through 6th graders at Laclede every Friday to promote literacy, foster creativity, and cultivate a love of learning through fun and engaging activities inspired by children's books. The after school students also get to keep copies of the books they read in an effort to help them build their own personal library at home.
